Tired of stuffing envelopes and printing/distributing document after document?
Posted by: Dick Boorsma on 12/7/2011 11:48:39 AM
Do you find that the daily task of printing, stuffing envelopes and distributing documents and pay stubs takes up a considerable amount of you or your staffs week?
Ever need to reprint a cheque only to find there's no way to reprint a copy just like the one you printed five minutes ago or two weeks ago. How about reprinting or viewing cheques or other documents for an entire year for a vendor or employee.
Now you can with a nifty utility called “PrintBoss” by Wellspring Software. Getting me to write a blog usually involves a cattle prod or something like it so you know I am not just advertising here. Wellspring has provided their nifty program to work with Sage Accpac and other accounting programs since forever. They are the kings of cheque printing – emailing – faxing etc. But don't be fooled into thinking this utility is just for cheque processing.

The importance of a procedure manual
Posted by: Zoë Samuel on 9/6/2011 1:10:46 PM
When I first started working for C-TEC (Asyma's Edmonton branch before it merged with Lethbridge), I did the internal books. One of the SWI's (standard work instructions) I created for myself was a revaluation instruction sheet as I had never worked with a multi-currency database before. Initially I made the instructions very specific to what I needed to do for C-TEC, but within a day or two of completing this instruction sheet Glenn asked if I could modify it to be more generic and professional looking so he could give it to a client. That same instruction sheet has been reproduced to well over a dozen different clients (if not more) from its original creation 7 years ago.

We've all heard the saying many times the “Only thing constant in life is change”. When you got into business or started the organization, all we required was a basic bookkeeping system. But things have changed. We have more complex reporting requirements, more employees, more projects to track, and more sales. What is Expected of a GREAT Manager?
Posted by: Prabha Virah Sammy on 7/12/2011 11:35:09 AM
I have been asked recently to think about a management position and that got me thinking about what is expected from a manager... a great one! Then came the question of “do I want to lead or to manage”? Whilst both are equally important roles, there is apparently a huge difference between them. “A good manager does things right. A leader does the right things.”

"IF A MAN does not make new acquaintances as he advances through life, he will soon find himself left alone. A man should keep his friendships in constant repair.
To let friendship die away by negligence and silence is certainly not wise. It is voluntary to throw away one of the greatest comforts of this weary pilgrimage." (Samuel Johnson) Taken from Dale Carnegie's Scrapbook
